Configuring the MER 9600C
Before you can place or receive calls, you must configure your
MER 9600C to match the operation of your host telephone. You
must configure one of the Function Buttons (1 – 4) as your primary
extension.
If you press talk key before
you configure the phone, you
will see an error message on
the LCD:
1. Remove the handset from the base unit.
2. Press and hold the

A * in the display indicates
that function key has already
been programmed.
5. Press the key on the Host Telephone that has the function you
want to assign to F1 . You will hear a beep to acknowledge that
the function has been assigned to the key, and a * will appear
to the lower right on the LCD.
6. You will see a new message
on the LCD prompting you to
configure F2 .
Follow the same procedure you used for F1 . Proceed in the same
way for F3 , F4 , xfer , and conf .
