11.4.2 Adjusting the shock absorbers
(Figure 135) On the left machine side, the movements of the net
tensioner [12] are braked by a shock absorber.
Two wing nuts (arrows in Figure 135) press the friction linings
against the net tensioner from both sides.
For adjustment first move the net tensioner to the top end
position and tighten the wing nut "hand-tight".
Proceed analogously in the bottom end position. The
adjustment is correct, if the net tensioner can just still be
moved to and fro between the two end positions by hand.
During net tying the net tensioner may move between the two
end positions only in such a way that the net always remains
properly tensioned.
Attention, danger of injury by cutting!
Do not reach into the area of the net knife! Wear protective
gloves.

Tensioning the roller chains

Chain tensioning has to be checked and/or retightened at
least after 500 bales.
On pick-up or cutting device drive*: loosen and readjust
chain tensioning blocks in the slotted holes. Subsequently
tighten the tensioning blocks properly.
The other drive chains are tensioned flexibly by springs
(arrow in Figure 136). Lock the nut again after adjustment. If
chain tensioning is no more possible, shorten the chain by
removing a chain link. If necessary insert a cranked chain
link.
Note! New chains elongate already after a short time of
operation. They can therefore be tensioned a little bit stronger.
