9. SERVICE INFORMATION
Diagnostic Messages - SPANET TOPSIDE CONTROL PANEL
MESSAGE
ER-2 HEATER PLUG
(no heat sensor communication)
ER-3 WATER PRIME
(prime has failed)
ER-4 THERMAL TRIP
(Heater thermal trip activated. Heater has
been active & has had insufficient water
flow over the element. Low or no water
flow has caused the heater temperature
to exceed its maximum limits & the spa
pool control has shut down operation to
prevent any damage to the heater unit)
ER-5 POOL TOO HOT
(Water temperature too high, sensor
reading +45 degrees)
ER-6 12V OVERLOAD
ER-8 CTRL FAULT HVS
(heater relay on when it should be off)
ER-10 OVER CURRENT
(Mains 230v current draw above current
limited C.LMT detected)

CAUSE
Internal heater sensor communication
error
Air detected in heater tube
Low water level
Dirty filter cartridges
Airlock in pipe work
Slice-valves shut
Low water level
Airlock in pipe work
Dirty filter cartridges

High ambient temp (summer)
Excessive filtration time
12V port current draw exceeding 1A limit
Power Surge
Periods of low/high voltage
Water on controller terminal
Components current draw too large for
C.LMT setting
ACTION REQUIRED
Turn mains power OFF, wait 5 minutes
then restart spa pool. Contact tech if
problem not resolved
Press Pump A button to retry water prime.
Check spa pool water level (refill if
necessary)
Remove and clean filter cartridges then
press Pump A button to retry prime
Bleed air from pipes by loosening barrel
unions on pumps
Check all slice valves are open
Check spa pool water level (refill if
necessary)

Remove and clean filter cartridges then
press Pump A button to retry prime
Check all slice valves are open
Turn off spa pool, remove cover and allow
water to cool before switching back on.
Reduce filtration time
Call for service
Turn mains power OFF & back ON again
Inspect inside spa pool cabinet for leaks or
evidence of water exposure to controller.
Turn off spa pool, dry water/fix leak and let
controller dry out
Power OFF/ON. Check C.LMT / L.SHD /
L.LMT settings are correct. Do elimination
test on components using the control
panel to identify which connection is
causing the fault
