Accessing the media server

Dialing up to the media server

To dial up, click the connection name or icon, if created. Once you are connected:

When prompted, enter your remote access login name and password.

When the "Start PPP now!" message appears, click
Complete dialog box, your computer is connected to the media server.

To open a Telnet session, click Start > Run to open the Run dialog box.

In the Run dialog box, type
actual active media server.

To use Avaya Site Administration, launch the software and select the switch you want to dial into.

and build a record for a particular media server.

Maintenance Web Interface

You can access the Maintenance Web Interface either by connecting directly to the services port (port 2
[Eth1]) on the media server (see
Media Server,
Netscape 6.2 and MS Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0.
When connected directly to the media server, you also must disable all proxy servers.

Click Tools > Internet Options.

Select the Connection tab.

In the LAN Settings box (lower right-hand), check "Bypass proxy server for local addresses."

Click OK, OK.
To use the Maintenance Web Interface:

Open the MS Internet Explorer Web browser.

When prompted, log in.

Command line interface

Telnet: To use a command line interface in a Telnet window:

Click Start > Run to open the Run dialog box.

When prompted log in.
