4. MEASUREMENTS
4.1. Earth bond 200 mA
Make sure tested equipment is deenergized – its mains voltage must be
•
disconnected before starting the measurement!
If you are going to test equipment which can be charged to voltage > 25V (e.g.
•
filter capacitors), discharge it before test!
In case that external voltage is present at equipment under test, the
•
measurement will not be carried out after pressing the START key and the
message „Voltage on input" will be displayed. Therefore it is important to
connect test leads to equipment under test first and to press the START key
afterwards; otherwise the function of protective circuitry in the ESC 2051
could be impaired!

Step 1
Press the R
•
PE
Either result of last measurement or „---" will be displayed.
•
Step 2
Connect test lead P 2011 with test tip P 3011 to R
•
Connect test tip of the test lead either to
•
of Test socket 1.
Press the START key and release it. Test lead resistance is displayed.
•
Press the CAL key and release it. The test lead resistance is memorized and it will be
•
automatically subtracted from test results. „00.00 Ω" and „C" is displayed, indicating
the compensation was accomplished. Test lead compensation is valid until the test lead
is replaced or the ESC 2051 is switched off.

Step 3
Plug in the mains cable of equipment under test to Test socket 1 (Fig. 2).
•
Press test tip against exposed metallic part of equipment under test. Press the START
•
key to start measurement. Measurement starts to run and the results are currently
displayed. Symbol „ " indicates, that measurement is running.
Release the START key again to stop the measurement. The lowest measured
•
resistance will be displayed. This value is automatically written to the buffer, too.
