Accuracy*:
Pulse Rate Range:
* Neonatal accuracy specifications are based upon testing the N-3000 and N-25 neonatal sensors on
healthy adult volunteers in induced hypoxia studies, in the range of 70 - 100% SpO2. The specified accu-
racy also takes into account published literature which predicts that there may be a small difference in % of
SpO2 reported by the oximeter when measurements from adult and fetal blood with 100% fetal hemoglobin
are compared. Fetal hemoglobin is present in concentrations varying from 10% to 90% in neonatal blood,
and this percentage declines over time. As the percentage of fetal hemoglobin in neonatal blood declines,
the theoretical effect on accuracy due to this source is reduced.
