Avionic Installations Service/Parts Manual
Step 3.
(See Illustration 5) Ensure that the
actuator support assembly (2) is securely riveted
and bolted to the bulkhead (2) at station 174. 40 using
4 rivets and two bolts (3),
washers (4) and nuts (5).
Step 4.
Ensure that the actuator mount (6) and
actuator motor (7) are securely bolted together with
four bolts (9) and washers (8).
Step 5.
Ensure that the aileron interconnect
cable (13) is properly rigged by performing the fol-
lowing inspection steps.
a.
Check that the R. H. clamp assembly (10)
is properly positioned on aileron cable assembly (11)
one inch forward of the cable terminal (44) as shown
in Detail B.
b.
Refer to Detail C and ensure that the outer
half of the clamp assembly (10) is securely attached
to the R. H. aileron cable (11) which routes through
the top portion of the clamp half (10) and utilizes the
large cable slot.
The bottom portion of the clamp
half (10) is secured to the actuator cable assembly
(12) which is installed in the smaller cable slot of
the clamp half (10).
c.
Ensure that the inner L. H. half of the clamp
assembly (10) is securely attached to the aileron in-
terconnect cable (13) which routes through the top
portion of the clamp half (10) and utilizes the smaller
cable slot in the clamp half (10).
d.
The clamp assembly (10) consists of four
clamps, two bolts, two washers and two nuts. Re-
fer to Detail C to verify cable routing in the clamp
assembly (10).
Step 6.
Ensure that the actuator cable assembly
(11) is properly rigged by performing the following
inspection steps.
(See Detail A).
a.
Ensure that the cable portion of the actua-
tor cable assembly (12) is properly routed through
the pulley mounting brackets (34) and properly cen-
tered on the pulley (38).
b.
Check to make sure that two cotter pins (33)
are installed and secured to the pulley mounting
brackets (34) to safety the cable portion of the actu-
ator cable assembly (12).
c.
Ensure that both the two pulley mounting
brackets (34) are securely bolted to Sta. 159. 72
bulkhead (15) using two bolts (37), washers (36) and
nuts (35).
d.
Check that the pulley (38) is properly se-
cured to the pulley mounting brackets (34) with a
bolt (32), washer (39) and nut (40).
e.
Check that the chain portion of the actuator
cable assembly (12) is closely centered on the actu-
ator sprocket (29) as shown in Detail B.
f.
Check that the chain guard posts (30) are
properly positioned next to the actuator sprocket (29)
and properly safety wired (31) as shown in Detail B.
NOTE
If the actuator cable assembly (12) is to be
replaced, it is necessary to first remove
the safety wire (31) securing the two chain
guard posts (30) and then remove the two
chain guard posts (30).
CAUTION
When the chain guard posts (30) are being
unscrewed for removal, use caution to not
lose the locking washers.
g.
Check that the chain (41) portion of the
cable assembly (12) is properly secured to the cable
terminals (43 & 44) using two chain link fasteners.
(42) and that the cable assembly (12) is fastened to-
gether with a turnbuckle (28) that has been properly
safety wired (26).
h.
Ensure that the aileron interconnect cable
(13) properly routes from the clamp assembly (10)
through the pulley bracket assembly (17) and is se-
curely attached to the L. H. cable clamp assembly
(27) utilizing the smaller inboard cable slot. Make
sure there is no free play in the aileron intercon-
nect cable (13).
i.
Ensure that the pulley bracket assembly
(17) is securely attached to Sta. 159. 17 bulkhead (15)
with two washers (21) and bolts (20). Also ensure
that the cable (13) is safetied to the pulley bracket
assembly (17) by two cotter pins (16).
j.
Ensure that the larger slot in the L. H.
clamp assembly is securely clamped to the L. H.
aileron control cable (25).
Refer to Detail D to
verify cable routing on the clamp assembly (27).
k.
Ensure that the stiffener (19) is securely
riveted between Sta. 159. 72 bulkhead and Sta. 149. 21
bulkhead as shown.
Step 7. To check the cable tension of the actu-
ator cable assembly (12), and aileron interconnect
cable (13), proceed as follows.
a.
Refer to Detail B and make sure the L. H.
aileron cable clamp assembly (10) is installed one
inch forward of the actuator cable terminal (44) with
the chain (41) centered on the actuator sprocket (29).
Then make sure the aileron interconnect cable (13)
is routed through the pulley assembly (17) and is
pulled finger tight and securely connected to the R. H.
aileron cable clamp assembly (27).
b.
Place your finger on the turnbuckle (28) of
the actuator cable assembly (12) and apply light fin-
ger pressure to see if the cable produces .25 inch
