Set up the remote antenna first.
The tripod should be set to
position the test antenna on the same horizontal plane as the
aircraft - mounted antenna, and at a horizontal spacing of approximately
21 inches from the aircraft antenna.
NOTE:
Do not bring the remote antenna closer than one foot from
the aircraft antenna.

Connect remote antenna coax to the "Antenna" connector on the ATC-600
Transponder test set.
Position the mode switch to "A/C Altitude".
e.
Apply 14 VDC or 28 VDC power to the ships avionics systems bus as
appropriate.
f.
Set transponder select switch to "Standby" position.
g.
After sufficient transponder warm up time (30 to 60 seconds)
set
transponder select switch to "ALT"
position.
4.2 Testing of Altitude Reporting - Altimeter Replaced by Code Simulator.
a.
Set Code Simulator assy. function switch to "Al" position and
rotate clockwise through "D4" position.
b.
For proper pulse position sequence on ATC-600 Transponder test set
refer to Figure 3.
c.
After completion of test, disconnect Code Simulator assy.
and connect
altitude reporting system connector to altimeter.
