7.4 IMPORTANT PARAMETERS FOR USING CAPENERGY
a) Manual CAPACITIVE operating mode
Temperature
The sensation of heat generated inside the body depends of various factors and may
be perceived by the client as ranging from lukewarmness to intense endogenous
heat. The following should be taking into account when using manual capacitive
electrodes:
- Diameter of the electrode: At a same power, those electrodes with a larger
diameter will increase their temperature more gradually. Use them with the
protective hygienic membrane.
N.B.: It is correct to always choose the largest electrode available in function of
the area that needs to be treated as long as it correctly adapts to the skin's
surface.
- Movement velocity: At a same power, the faster you move the electrode, lesser
will be the sensation of heath perceived by the patient.
N.B.: CAPENERGY devices can be used by applying a motionless electrode on
the treatment area or by applying the electrode in circular or linear movements,
according to the treatment surface and the power you wish to transmit.
Application pressure of the electrode
It is very important that the largest part of the electrode's surface or the whole of it
remains in contact with the patient's skin. This can be achieved by applying a discrete
pressure and following possible curvatures and irregularities of the treated areas,
continuously adapting to the latter. Correctly choosing the most adequate diameter
will be most helpful in this matter. A correct pressure is, without any doubt, important
to identify specific areas, core pain points or possible muscle contractions of the
middle superficial plane.
The electrode holder has been studied in detail in order to minimize the operator's
efforts and to make the treatment more pleasant for the patient (deep tissue
massage, as if it were an extension of the operator's hands.
N.B.: There are some exceptions where it is necessary to remain adhered to the skin
without exercising any specific pressure: this is the case with bruises, and phlebitis
and acute phlobosis in general.
