8. Before starting the treatment, apply the previously cleaned passive plate(s) to the
client's skin. Apply a small amount of vehicle cream if necessary.
9. According to the type of treatment, apply a small amount of vehicle cream to the
manual electrode or the active automatic plate.
7.2 SECURITY AND MAINTENANCE WARNINGS
The following matters have already been commented upon in the Safety Chapter but
those related to the application will be further detailed hereafter:
General matters
The device must be connected to a power point that has been equipped with an earth
wire.
This device cannot be connected to other devices.
Always disconnect all the accessories that are not going to be used.
Do not use the device in the absence an operator who can assist the client.
The device's casing must be cleaned using a damp cloth and very little neutral
detergent.
The environmental temperature cannot exceed the interval indicated in the user's
manual in order to assure the correct functioning of the device. Using the device at a
temperature inferior or superior to the indicated interval, may affect the technical
reliability of the device.
In case that the patient has used any kind of adhesive bandage, it is important to
retire any rest of adhesive before the application of the plates.. Failure to comply with
this observance may cause burns.
Active plates / Passive plates
Always apply the plates with the power output set to zero
For reasons of hygiene, the active plates come with a washable cover. These covers
should be cleaned with water and soap after each treatment and they should be
replaced when they start to wear down. Complete cleaning after each treatment using
an class IIa disinfectant.
