Appendix B: Firmware update procedure

Updating the PDU firmware using the web UI

Procedure
1. Navigate to System Management > Upload Firmware.
2. In the Upload Firmware dialog box, browse to the HPE.bin firmware file, and then click OK.
NOTE: The firmware file must be named HPE.bin or HPEvxx.bin.
3. Click Upload.
The system will update the newest firmware to the Network Management Module.
4. When the upload is complete, the PDU will reboot automatically.

Updating the PDU firmware using a USB connection

Procedure
1. Navigate to www.hpe.com and download the most recent firmware version, HPE.bin.
Save this file to a USB flash drive.
2. Insert the flash drive into the USB port of the Network Management Module.
3. Enter USB mode on the PDU and press Select.
4. Navigate to Setup > USB and click Yes to confirm entering USB mode.
5. To upload the new firmware, select F/W Up and click Yes.
6. The OLED shows the firmware update progress.
7. When the update is complete, remove the USB drive.
8. From the USB menu, select Quit to exit USB mode.
9. Click Yes to confirm exit.
The PDU automatically reboots.
10. To confirm that the firmware was uploaded successfully, navigate to Setup > Device > Firmware.
