Function for Changing Partition Configurations

The partition configuration of PRIMEQUEST series machines is changed using the
[Partition Configuration] screen of the MMB Web-UI. For details of the operation,
see the PRIMEQUEST 480/440 Operation Manual (C122-E002EN).
Remark:
8.5
Notes to Observe when Configuring Partitions
The XDI is composed of two chip sets (GDX #0 and GDX #1), and the chip sets are
connected by four internal ports. These internal ports are referred to as Other Ports.
When a partition configuration contains Other Ports, the partition may stop due to a
port failure, because if an Other Port is shared with another partition, a failure in one
partition may affect the other partition.
However, the possibility of an Other Port failure is very low.

Figure 8.5 Data communication among SBs, IO_Units, and Other Ports
The send and receive relationships among SBs, IO_Units, and Other Ports are
described in the table below.
Table 8.1
The table indicates that if, for example, the partition is configured by combining one
of SB #0 to SB #3 and IO_Unit #7, Other Port #0 is used.
8-8
Change of the partition configuration is applied by power-off and
subsequent power-on, or reboot in units of partitions. If the configuration
is changed during business operation, the system must be shut down once.
Therefore, job processing stops temporarily in the time between shutdown
and restart of the OS and business application software after a reboot.
