INSTRUMENTS
Removal of instrument insert
1. Back off and remove the four screws holding the instru-
ment insert. Pass the speedometer cable in from the en-
gine compartment. Take out the instrument insert. Dis-
connect the speedometer cable.
REMOVAL OF INSTRUMENT INSERT
2. Disconnect the electric cables and note their respective
connection positions.
The instrument concerned can now be detached from
the insert by opening up the retaining clamps. Repairs
and adjustments of instruments should always be en-
trusted to a specialist firm.
Reinstall in the reverse sequence. Pull the speedometer cable
back into the engine compartment.
Replacement of speedometer cable with sheathing
When handling the speedometer cable, never coli it in
rings with a diameter of less than about 12 inches (300
mm), since otherwise there is a risk that the flexible inner
wire may get damaged, which could cause unwanted noise
after instal I ing.
1. Back off and remove the four screws holding the instru-
ment insert. Pass the speedometer cable in from the en-
gine compartment. Take out the instrument insert. Dis-
connect the speedometer cable.
2. Remove the rubber bushing in the dash panel and pull
the cable out.
3. Detach the cable from the gearbox.
Install the new cable in the reverse sequence. Pull the
cable out into the engine compartment so that it lies
smoothly and without any sharp bends.
Seal the bushing in the dash panel with a suitable sealing
compound.
Changing light bulbs in instruments
1. Back off and remove the four screws holding the instru-
ment insert. Pass the speedometer cable in from the en-
gine compartment. Take out the instrument insert.
2. Remove the appropriate
bu
lb holder and change the
bulb. Ref it the holder.
Note that the bulb holders in the fuel and temperature
gages are equipped with a bayonet socket.
3. Refit the instrument insert. Pull the speedometer cable
back into the engine compartment.
