control to the gearbox.
13. Refit the throttle control.
14. F it the exhaust pipes together in the two joints. Do
not push the upper pipes on so far that they rest
against the floor in the bushings. Reconnect the
exhaust pipes to the cylinder heads. F it new gaskets.
15. Refit the alternator, cooling fan and fan belt if
these items have been removed.
16. Reconnect all hose and cable connections to the
engine.

Refit the radiator and reconnect all coolant hoses.
Start with the lower hose.
18. F ill the radiator with cooling water and ventilate
the system through the venting nipples on the ther-
mostat housing and heat exchanger. Check the
cooling system for leaks by carrying out a pressure
test.

Check the ou l level in the engine and top up if
necessary.
20. Reconnect the earth cable to the battery.
21.
Test-start the engine. Note the ou l pressure and
coolant temperature. Check the coolant level after
running up the engine to the warm condition.
22. Refit the rubber boot on the gear shift rod. Check
that the dash panel is positioned in the groove on
the boot. Refit the gear shift rod joint.
23. Refit the pedal plate and the transmission casing.
Put the wallboard panels and the floor mat in place.
24. Ref it the hood. See Chapter
8.
25.
Lower the car onto the wheels.
Check the ou l level in the gearbox and top up if
necessary.
26.
Take the ear out for a test run.
DIVISION OF REMOVED POWER UNIT
Disassembly
1. Remove the flywheel guard plate from under the
clutch housing.
2. Back off the screws between the engine and the trans-
mission.
3. Remove the starter.
4. Separate the engine from the gear box.
Reassembly
1. Reinstall the gear box, checking that the guide sleeves
take up the correct positions in the clutch housing.
2. Tighten the screw for the clutch housing uniformly
and with the correct torque.
3. Refit the guard plate for the flywheel and the starter
motor.
