The Deflector
Motors
The 5060 and 5070 use maintenance-free motors and therefore do not need to be greased or oiled.
Under normal use these motors will operate quietly and effectively for many years. These motors are
thermally protected and need proper ventilation to remain in operation. To allow for continuous airflow
over motors, do not place objects directly behind vent panels on back of the letter opener.

Troubleshooting

Machine does not start:
1. Check that the power cord is securely in place at both the outlet and the back of the machine.
2. Check that the transport cover (under feed and transport belts) is closed.
3. Check that the track cover (over transport belt) is closed.
4. Turn the ON/OFF Switch to the ON position and press the reset button.
Machine stops and does not restart:
1. If machine has been running for several hours in a warm environment it is possible the motors
have overheated and shut down to prevent damage. Allow a half-hour for cooling and restart
machine.
If the machine still does not start, you will need to contact your local service technician.
Envelope becomes jammed in machine
1. Turn the machine off, and unplug from power supply.
2. Lift and open Track Cover to upright position and remove jammed envelopes.
3. Check for any remaining debris on belts or track, then close cover
4. Re-stack remaining envelopes and plug in and start machine again.
Machine stops counting:
1. Turn the machine off, and unplug from power supply
2. Lift and open Track Cover to upright position
3. Inspect that the mechanical switch is not jammed
If you experience any other troubles with your machine, contact your dealer for further assistance.
The letter opener can be delivered with a counter. The counter is mounted at
the top right side of the letter opener.
restart the count, or if left alone the counter will continue to display the count
even if the letter opener is powered off or unplugged.
Used to reduce skewing of exiting envelopes, the deflector is now cut
from stainless steel for longer life. Without the deflector, envelopes
may not stack neatly.
WARNING: Remove ALL staples, paper clips and rubber
bands from mail before opening! Failure to do so will cause
damage to the machine and void your warranty.
