- Page 5 With the feed extender flipped open, you have another way to feed your large envelopes and flats. By sliding up the feed ramp, and adding the envelope guide you have another feed option. Thick envelopes and flats Most envelope sizes are fed automatically, requiring the operator to merely add and remove the mail. For a few thick envelopes, it may be required for the operator to lightly press on stack to help feed the envelopes.
- Page 6 Depth of Cut The depth of cut is adjustable on the Letter Opener Model 5060/5070. The cutter is preset at the factory to the smallest cut possible. For most operating conditions, the factory settings should be satisfactory. It is recommended the depth of cut be tested with only a handful of envelopes. If the contents are damaged or the envelope is not fully opened, the depth of cut will need to be adjusted.

Motors The 5060 and 5070 use maintenance-free motors and therefore do not need to be greased or oiled. Under normal use these motors will operate quietly and effectively for many years. These motors are thermally protected and need proper ventilation to remain in operation.
