SECURITY FUNCTIONS

Your facsimile machine has security functions which will enable you to prevent unauthorized
persons from using the facsimile machine to indiscriminately transmit documents, make copies or
change the configuration set. The security functions are called "Password" and "Closed network".

PASSWORDS

The "passwords" are requested by the facsimile machine whenever an attempt is made to activate
certain functions or to change the machine's configuration: access is denied until the password is
entered. There are four passwords:
-
Confidential Mailbox Password
Enables you to send, receive and print confidential documents. The received document is
stored in a special memory location called the "confidential mailbox" instead of being printed
immediately. The document cannot be printed until the password has been entered.
-
System Password
Controls access to the "OPERATING CONFIGURATION" and "STORING DATA" menus,
which contain the functions and parameters that determine the machine's overall operation.
Once set, this password will be requested when you access the menus. It takes priority over
the other passwords.
