TEST 1A
IDENTIFYING VEHICLE COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS
Perform TEST SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION 1A Before Proceeding
Use a DRB with the latest software to interrogate the suspect module(s) for diagnostic trouble codes
(DTCs) and DRB bus failure messages.
Choose the applicable failure/no response from the list below and perform the indicated test.
If the DRB has a blank screen:
1. Disconnect the DRB from the data link connector.
2. Ensure that there is a good ground at cavities 4 & 5 (see Fig. 1)
3. Ensure that there is a 12-volt supply at cavity 16 (see Fig. 1). If there is not, inspect the IOD fuse
in the junction block.
4. Try a different DRB cable.
5. Try a different DRB.
NOTE: If the odometer is displaying "NO BUS" attempt to communicate with the instrument cluster
and follow the appropriate test listed below.
