Transmit Power—indicates the radiated power setting of the radio. (Read-only)
Change Radio Power—select the radiated power setting of the radio: High or Low.
Wireless Mode—displays the current communication state of the device, or its ability to provide information to the
network. During normal start‐up a configured device will go through the following sequence: SEARCHING, to
NEGOTIATING, to CONNECTED, and OPERATIONAL.
SEARCHING—the device is waiting to detect the presence of a wireless network with the same Network ID and join
key.
NEGOTIATING—the presence of a wireless network with the same network parameters has been detected and the
device is attempting to join the network.
CONNECTED—the device has detected the presence of a wireless network with the same network parameters and
has successfully joined the network.
OPERATIONAL—the device is operating within a wireless network.
DISCONNECTED—the device has become disconnected from the wireless network.
IDLE—the device has been instructed by a HART command not to attempt to participate in a wireless network.
DISCONNECTED and IDLE are used in maintenance activities.
Network ID—displays the current Network ID setting (Read-only).
Join Device to Network—enter the Network ID (up to 5‐digits) and the Join Key (4 sets of 8 hexadecimal digits). The Join
Key is used for encrypting the data on the wireless network. The Network ID and the Join Key are the same for all
devices connected to a gateway.
Note
The Network ID is shipped with a default value of 1229 and the Join Key with a default value of all zeros. These must be changed
prior to use.
When the 1420 gateway is configured in an advanced security mode each device is required to have an individual join key.
Advanced Wireless Reporting (Report By Exception and Delayed Triggering)
By default, wireless publishing is set to occur continuously at 60 second intervals. You may adjust the update rate and
other publishing criteria to obtain the best compromise between battery life and data latency, within the constraints
of the available network bandwidth.
Restrictions on update rate values are defined by the HART specification. The slowest permitted rate is 1 hour (3600
seconds) between updates. Below 60 seconds, the selected rate must be one of the predefined intervals in powers of
two, such as 4, 8, 16, or 32 seconds. 4 seconds is probably a practical top speed for this generation of equipment,
even though 2 or 1 second rates may be selected. If the network is heavily loaded, it may not be able to meet your
request for a fast sample rate. In that case it will reduce the allocation to a value slower than what you have requested.
With firmware revision 2, the ability to transmit data only when a change occurs has been added; this is called Report
By Exception (RBX) or Triggered Burst Mode. When a triggered burst mode is enabled, a "trigger" variable is identified,
