Safety Standards and Warnings
Do not operate this appliance with the glass removed, cracked or broken. Only glass doors certified with this
appliance shall be used.
A barrier designed to reduce the risk of burns from the hot viewing glass is pro vided with this appliance and
must be installed. If the barrier becomes damaged, the barrier shall be replaced with the manufacturer's
barrier for this appliance.
Any Barrier Screen or guard removed for servicing must be replaced before operating fireplac e.

Installation and repair shoul d be performed by a qualified service person. The fireplace and venting system
should be inspected before initial use and at least annually by a professional service person. Mo re frequent
cleaning may be required due to excessive lint from carpeting, beddi ng, material, etc. It is imperative that
the unit's control compartment, burners and circulating air passageways are kept clean to provide for
adequate combustion and ventilati on air.

Always keep the fireplace clear and free from combustible materials, ga soline, and other flammable vapors
and liquids.
Never obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilation air. Keep the front of the fireplace clear of all
obstacles and materials for servicing and proper operation. Use only Mendota approved Screens, Fronts an d
Trim Kits.
Due to high temperature, the fireplace should be located out of traffic areas and away from furniture and

avoid burns or clothing ignition. The door glass, surrounding walls and objects can be too hot to touch.

Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the sam e room as the fireplace. Toddlers,
young children and others may be susceptible to accidental contact burns. A physical barrier is
recommended if there are at risk individuals in the house. To restrict access to a fireplace or stove, install
an adjustable safety gate to keep toddlers, young children and other at -risk individuals out o f the room and
away from hot surfaces. This physical barrier is in addition to the required glass barrier Screen.
