Chapter 5. Diagnostics
5.3.1 Problems during Power-Up
Certain conditions can prevent the module from powering up and becoming operational or entering
firmware update mode:

5.3.2 Firmware Update Mode
The EIS001 firmware consists of the ETM001 firmware plus the IEC 104 Server specific firmware, and
a GE IP installed license.
Each firmware upgrade may be obtained from the GE IP support web-site as a uniquely-identified ZIP
file. The ZIP file must be downloaded to a computer which can be connected to the host RX3i CPU.
Each ZIP file includes instructions specific to the target product.
The updated firmware may then be passed to the EIS001 through the host RX3i CPU using the
WinLoader utility. The CPU must be in STOP mode in order to deliver the firmware upgrade through
the Serial port on the CPU.

After new firmware has been successfully downloaded to the EIS001 module, and the CPU has been
switched to RUN mode, the EIS001 module will reboot using the new firmware. In order to initialize
and resume IEC 104 Server operation, it is necessary to activate the Configuration of IEC 104 Server
Parameters Using COMMREQ command detailed in Chapter 6 in order to provide the module with its
IEC 104 Server profile.
Refer to the EIS001 firmware update LED pattern above. This pattern is displayed between the time
the firmware download is initiated by the CPU and until such time as the module is able to return to
