Problem
The module status LED on the front
panel of the Switch is not lit when
the Layer 3 Module is present.

CAUTION: The absence of lit LEDs does not necessarily mean that the
device is not powered up.
This section describes how to identify problems, and suggests possible
solutions.
Cause
Power supply problem.
Layer 3 Module is not correctly
installed.
Indicates
Packets are being routed.
No packets are being routed.
The Layer 3 Module is functioning.
An unrecognized or faulty module is installed in
the Switch.
There is no module installed in the Switch.
Solution
Try the following troubleshooting
procedures:
1 Check that the power supply is
plugged into the device, using a
power outlet that is known to be
working.
2 Check that the main power
supply switch on the wall is set
to the ON position.
3 Replace the power cable with a
cable known to be working, and
power-up the Switch.
4 Contact 3Com Technical
Support. See Appendix C.
Remove and then reinstall the Layer
3 Module. See Chapter 3 for more
information about installing the
Layer 3 Module.
