Appendix A - SMS Configuration

The TransVu Video Servers support GSM communications and SMS messaging with a Siemens TC35i GSM
module. This allows the video servers to report events via SMS and to receive SMS messages in order to
create events on the system. On Video Servers supporting GPS modules, the SMS messaging can also be
used to report position, distance off track and current zone.

Commands consist of a descriptor followed by a variable parameter list. Due to the limited message size
under SMS, the parameters do not have descriptors with them and must appear in the correct order. If a
parameter is not supplied, the parameter delimiter must still be include. The parameter list is defined for
each command. The command is delimited from the parameter list by '?' and the parameters are delimited
by '&'.

These are messages sent to the video server in order to create an event. These messages may be sent
from a mobile phone or Internet service offering SMS messaging. Optional parameters are indicated by {};
these should not be included in the SMS message sent to the system.
Callback
This command is used to cause the Video Server to make a connection to a Telnet listener at the
destination. The command specifies a callback profile to use so this can be used to initiate an Internet
connection from the server and report the dynamic IP assigned to that connection back to the destination.

SMS password to enable commands to be executed
IP address or DNS name of the Telnet listener. A DNS name can only be used if
the server has a connection to a DNS server
This can be a profile number to use or a profile name to make the callback
connection. The profile number relates to the profiles on the SMS configuration
webpage. Specifying a name allows any profile on the Video Server to be used but
the profile must exist. If the profile is specified as Ethernet, the system will attempt
to connect over the Ethernet gateway on the network
