If a self-test failure is detected the system status indicator will display the red DO NOT
USE indicator. If the failure was only a low battery, the indicator will flash rather than a
solid DO NOT USE indicator.
Note
The user MUST power the AED 10 on via the power button to clear a low battery
error. Simply replacing the battery will not always clear the fault.
You can press the ON button to power-up the Welch Allyn AED 10 and automatically
perform a self-test. At power-up, the following tests are performed: battery, main
processor, stuck key, internal circuitry, ECG acquisition system, and defibrillator.
Note
Frequently powering the AED 10 on will reduce battery life.

Inspecting for Damage

Inspect the Welch Allyn AED 10 and battery. Look for signs of damage. See
for Preparedness"
Contact an authorized service agent immediately if:
The unit is not functioning properly.
Accessories show signs of deterioration.
The unit was subjected to extreme mechanical stress.
Status indicator displays a "Do Not Use" icon.

Service and Repair

WARNING Hazardous voltage. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not
attempt to remove the cover under any circumstances. There are no operator
serviceable components and only a qualified technician should service the Welch
Allyn AED 10.
WARNING Do not disassemble the Welch Allyn AED 10. There are no operator
serviceable components. Service and repair should be performed only by
authorized service personnel.
