Cleaning turbine blades and nozzle ring
in operation
Wet cleaning of the turbine and nozzle ring
The maximum allowable exhaust gas temperature specified by the engine
manufacturer and the temperature T
ing plate must not be exceeded under any circumstances. During wet
cleaning, the turbine is braked and the turbocharger runs at a reduced
speed. As a result, less air is supplied to the engine and the temperature
following the engine cylinder and exhaust valve rises.
Operating state prerequisites for wet cleaning
In order to be able to carry out a satisfactory cleaning process which
has been tested and recommended by ABB Turbo Systems, the follow-
ing prerequisites must be met:
After an engine start-up or during operation, the engine performance
level must be adjusted until the scavenging air pressure p
the range of 0.3 to 0.6 bar (overpressure).
Wait 10 to 15 minutes (stabilising time) until the exhaust gas temper-
ature at the turbine inlet is stable and below 430 °C. In addition, the
auxiliary blower must be operating.
Start the cleaning cycle according to the following description Wet-
cleaning procedure.
