Cleaning the filter silencer
Removing and cleaning filter silencer
Remove filter strip (81265).
Rinse filter strip (81265) in water containing detergent or, if very dirty,
soak it while squeezing carefully. Rinse it in cold water. Avoid rough
treatment (don't use a jet of water).
How dirty the filter strip (81265) is, depends on how clean the drawn-in
air is. Clean filter strip every 500 hours of service or more frequently if
necessary.
Release tension bands (81270) at locks (81271) and remove together
with cover grids (81266) and connecting strips (81268).
In the case of an insert unit (E), the water injection line must first be re-
moved if a cleaning medium vessel is fitted to the filter silencer (optional
depending on turbocharger type). (See also following section Removing
cleaning pipe.)
Take out insert units (E), bend open cover sheet metal (81137) and
then take out absorption segments (81136).
Clean absorbtion segments (81136).
When cleaning absorption segments (81136), use only a mild jet of
compressed air, a soft brush or a damp cloth. Otherwise there is a risk
of damage or change of shape.
Very dirty absorption segments and filter strip as well as damaged con-
necting strips should be replaced with original parts from ABB Turbo
Systems.
