2. When in the Gated Mode the generator will
output a continuous waveform as long as the
key is pressed. When the key is released the
waveform will cease.
3. When in theToggle Mode, pressing the key once
will output a continuous waveform. Pressing
the key a second time will stop the waveform
output.
4 When in the Burst Mode, the generator w ~ l l
output the preset number of cycles.
15 Counter Key. When in the Gated, Toggled, or Burst
Modes pressing this key will indicate the number of
complete cycles of the waveform that have been out-
put since the last trigger.
16 Sync I n (TTL) Connector. Primarily used for
synchronizing several arbitrary waveform
generators in parallel. A high level at this input
causes the waveform to restart operation at the start
address.
17 F3 Key.This is a soft key that allows selection of the
option displayed directlyabove it. The function of this
key ischanged bythe menu keys(3.4.5. and 6) The
top l ~ n e of the display will respond to the key being
pressed
For some menus, the F3 soft key (1 7) will have an
"EXEC" label. Pressing the F3 soft key will cause
the condition or value set by the F1 or F2 soft key
to be entered (executed).
18 Burst Done Out (TTL)Connector. This output is low
during active waveform output and high while
waiting for a trigger in Trig, Gate, Toggle, and Burst
modes. It is primarily used as the trigger source to
start another ARB generator in series operation.
19 F2 Key.This isa soft key that allows selection of the
option displayed directlyabove it.Thefunction of this
key is changed by the menu keys(3,4,5, and 6). The
top line of the display will respond to this key being
pressed.
20 Trig In(TTL)Connector. This connector provides for
an external l T L signal input to control the generator
in the Trigger, Gate, Toggle, and Burst modes. The
slope polarity (TRSLP) is settable.
21 F1 Key.This is a soft key that allows selection of the
option displayed directly above it. The function of this
key is changed by the menu keys (3,4,5, and 6). The
top line of the display will respond to this key being
pressed.
22 Communication Option Connector. Either an
IEEE-488 connector, an RS-232C connector, or a
blank cover plate will be mounted here depending
on the option installed.
23 Z-Axis Out (600R)Connector. Used to modulate the
Z-axis of an oscilloscope when using the waveform
editing features. The level of t h ~ s signal is menu
selectable from 2 to 14 volts. Additional lower levels
can be obtained by terminating the output into 50R.
Logic polarity is also selectable.
24 Return I n (TTL) Connector. A l T L low or switch
closure applied at this input will cause the output to
ramp back to the starting "Y" value. The rate of the
ramp is adjustable from 0 to 100 ms per point. If the
instrument is incontinuous mode, the output will be
held after the return and can be restarted by press-
ing the hold key. If the waveform is in Trig, Gate,
Toggle, or Burst, the output will wait for another
trigger (manual or external) before restarting.
25 Hold In (TTL) Connector. A l T L low or switch closure
signal at this input will cause the waveform to stop
at the instantaneous " Y " value. ATTL high or open
will cause the waveform to continue.
26 Ref Out(TTL) Connector. This connector outputs a
l T L level pulse train at the sample frequency to syn-
chronize other ARB generators in series or parallel
operation.
27 Ref I n (T'TL) Connector. This connector allows the
input of an external l T L level sample clock when
external reference is selected.
28 External Power Connector. This connector allows
the use of a standard 3-wire, UL IistedlCSA certified,
removable power cord.
