active waveform. The top line of the display will
indicate both the current start and stop addresses
along with an annunciator indicating that START
has been pressed.
The label for the F3 soft key will read "NORML"
(Normalize). Pressing the F3 key scales the por-
tion of the waveform between the thumbtacksso
that its peak Y-value is either
k
2047. This is
exactly the same as using DAMPL and turning the
control knob until "1 0O0/0
"
isdisplayed. Normaliz-
ing a waveform ensures that its peak value will
be as set by the amplitude parameter.
Pressing the Edit keya fifth time enables the single
point editing features as follows:
The label for the F1 soft keywill read "CSR" (Cur-
sor). Pressing ~1 allows the cursor in the
waveform to be moved by rotating the control
knob. The top line of the display will indicate the
X-position of the cursor and the Y-value at that
position. If Z-axis modulation is used on an
oscilloscope, the cursor will be intensified. This
does not affect the output waveform.
The label for the F2 soft key will read "INCRX"
(Increment X Position). Pressing F2 causes the
positionof thecursor to increase byone. The top
line of the display will indicate the X-position of
the cursor and the Y-value at that position. This
does not affect the output waveform.
The label for the F3 soft key will read "ADJY PT"
( Adjust the Y-Value of a Point). The level of
individual points of the waveform can be adjusted
by pressing F3 and rotating the control knob. The
top line of the display will indicate both theX posi-
tion and Y value of the point.
Pressing the Edit key additional times will continuous
cycle through the above options.

Parameter Key. Each time the Parameter key is
pressed the lower line of the display will change to
indicate three different parameter setting options.
There is a total of three different sets of three
parameter setting options. Any of these can be
invoked by pressing the soft key [ F l (21), F2 (1 9), or
F3(17)] below the corresponding label on thedisplay.
NOTE
Refer to appendix B for a summary of the soft
key options.
frequency(see paragraph 3.1 4.1), but the display will
be in three different forms as follows:
The label for the F1 soft key will read "FREQ"
(Waveform Frequency). Pressing F1 allows the
frequency to be set using the control knob.
The label for the F2 soft key will read "PER"
(Waveform Period). Pressing F2 allows the period
to be set using the control knob.
The label for the F3 soft key will read "SAMPL"
(Sample Frequency). Pressing F3 allows the sam-
ple freauency to be set using the control knob.
Pressing the Parameter key a second time enables
amplitude-offset control and also allows the selec-
tion of external frequency reference as follows:
The label for the F1 soft key will read "AMPL"
(Amplitude). Pressing F1 allows setting of the
peak amplitude by rotating the control knob. The
top line of the display will indicate the amplitude
in volts peak(into 509). See paragraph 3.1 4.3for
an explanation of the interrelation between
amplitude and offset.
The label for the F2 soft keywill read "OFFSET".
Pressing F2 allows setting of the output offset
voltage by rotating the control knob. The top line
of the display will indicate the offset in volts (into
509). See paragraph 3.14.4 for an explanation of
the interrelation between amplitude and offset.
The label for the F3soft keywill read "REF" (Fre-
quency Reference). Pressing F3 allows selection
of either the internal synthesizer (as set by FREQ,
PER, or SAMPL) or an external signal (Ref in
connector-27) by rotating the control knob.
Pressing the Parameter a third time enables the
mode controls as follows:
The label for the F1 soft key will read "MODE".
Pressing F1 allows'selection of one of the five
operating modes by rotating the control knob.
The label for the F2 soft key will read "TRSLP"
(Trigger Slope). Pressing F2 allows the selection
of the trigger slope polarity as either positive or
negative by rotating the control knob.
The label for the F3 soft key will read "BURST"
(Burst Count). Pressing F3 allows the setting of
the number of waveform cycles to be output after
each trigger in burst mode by rotating the con-
trol knob.
Pressing the Parameter key additional times will con-
tinuously cycle through the above options.
Pressing the Parameter key the first time enables
5
Store Key. Each time the Store key is pressed the
the control of theoutput frequency in threedifferent
lower line of the display will change to indicate one
ways. Each of these is actually settng the sample
of two sets of three setting storage options. Setting
