Error Codes
Data Logger Error Codes
The following Status messages may appear for an event or data log file.
Status Message
OK
Error: -n
A file system error has occurred. Refer to the file system error
codes listed below.
Too much information per record is being logged. As this time,
Record size overflow
the record size is a maximum of 1000 characters.
Illegal file name
File names must use alphanumeric characters only and may
have no embedded spaces. The suffix must be .txt for event
and data log files.
E-mail error: -n
There is a problem attempting to e-mail a log file. The error
codes are listed below.
Unknown x/y
A status x with code y has not been enumerated for the web
page. Please contact Banner technical support and provide the
values of x and y.
File System Error Codes
The file system errors are listed in the following table.
One commonly occurring code is -5, referring to a full volume (a "disk full" error if it was a disk).
Duplicate or not found errors are also common error messages. A DIR_ENTRY error refers to an
invalid file name.
