The first physical output channel, CHANNEL 1, is always set to STREAM ID function and this function cannot
be programmed by the user. The other physical output channels, menu items CHANNEL 2-7, are the reaction
result channels with limited number of parameters. When the CHANNEL 2-7 parameters are programmed,
the stream number, the result type and the result scale can be set or viewed for each OUTPUT X parameters.
For instance, in the example menu above, the OUTPUT 1 parameter instructs the system to output
instantaneous TOC result, taken from Stream 1 valve, with scale 0-1000mgC/l. The CHANNEL 3 parameter
tells the system, that it is the physical 4-20mA output channel 3, which should be used to output the
corresponding result.
This scheme of mapping OUTPUT X parameters to physical 4-20mA output channels, described by
CHANNEL X parameters, is very flexible and allows outputting selected sets of reaction results from any
measured system stream valves without any need for additional connection between BioTector and user
device. The drawback of this solution is the fact that reaction results are not available on the 4-20mA outputs
constantly (as they change periodically) and hence the need for a signal processing device on the user side
which can synchronize with BioTector to capture the actual data.
