Printing with a simulation on a per-job basis
If you send print jobs to the RIP Station and use the Adobe PostScript printer drivers
provided with the User Software CD, you can select a simulation on a job-by-job basis,
using the CMYK Simulation option.
When you select a simulation for a job different from the default on the RIP Station, it
is applied to that job only. The server's default remains unchanged. As a consequence,
users do not have to agree or compromise on the goals of their print jobs.
To print with a simulation on a per-job basis, choose Print from your application's File
menu. Under the Printer Specific Options, set CMYK Simulation to one of the
standard press goals (DIC, Cromalin EuroSTD, or SWOP-COM /M), or choose a
custom simulation. You must also choose the Solid Color rendering style to use a
simulation.
Custom simulations ("Custom-1", "Custom-2", and so on) always appear in the list of
simulations. However, the custom simulations must be created before they can used.
Otherwise, if you try to print with undefined custom simulations, the print job will fail
printing and report an error.
For more information about creating custom simulations and naming them, see
"Editing simulations" on page 6-5.
