4-6 Downloading Files and Fonts
Some applications, including Adobe Photoshop, provide transfer functions that

let you specify density settings for an image. If the file you are printing includes
transfer functions, the Fiery Downloader Brightness options will have no effect on
your printout. For more information on using transfer functions, see the
documentation for your application.
'showpage' (after EPS files)—Adds a
end of the print job. In most cases, you do not need to use this option. Some
applications, however, omit this necessary PostScript language command when they
generate EPS files. Select the 'showpage' option when printing EPS files generated by
these applications. If you select this option unnecessarily, extra blank pages might print
at the end of the job.
9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for any other jobs as needed.
10. When you have selected the files and fonts, click Download.
11. To cancel downloading, press the Escape key on a Windows computer, or Command-.
(Period) on a Mac OS computer.
12. To select a different RIP Station, choose Open from the File menu, select the
RIP Station in the dialog box that appears, and then click Connect.

Downloading and managing PostScript printer fonts

Before printing a PostScript or EPS file containing fonts that are not resident on the
RIP Station hard disk, you must download the fonts manually.
For a list of the standard RIP Station fonts, see Appendix B, "Font List." If you have
downloaded additional fonts to the RIP Station, you can produce a list of all fonts on
the RIP Station as described on page 4–8.
You cannot use the Fiery Downloader to download TrueType fonts. If you use

TrueType fonts in Windows, you can print them by first converting them to Adobe
Type 1 fonts. To do this with the AdobePS driver, click the Fonts tab and set up the
Font Substitution Table as necessary.
