O PRINT FILES WITH THE PARALLEL PORT
1. Make sure that parallel printing is enabled on your RIP Station.
Print the Configuration page to see if parallel port printing is enabled. For information
about setting up parallel printing on the RIP Station, see the Administrator Guide; for
information about setting up parallel port printing on a Windows computer, see the
Setup Guide.
2. Select the printer port that is connected to the RIP Station parallel port.
Select one of the local ports: LPT1, LPT2, or LPT3. For instructions, see your
Windows documentation.
3. Print from within your application.
If you are printing a PostScript file in binary format (not ASCII), verify that the
Network Setup option
menu on the RIP Station to print the Configuration page to view the settings for all
Setup options.
Preparing files to print at a remote location
If you prepare files to take to a service bureau or some other location with a
RIP Station, you can set up the printer in Windows to print to the File port. Printing
to the File port creates a new file that includes your job with all its print settings. When
the file is eventually printed, you get the same quality output as if you had printed the
file yourself.
Even if you do not print files at a remote location, you can print to the File port to
create a file to be downloaded with the Fiery Downloader. For information, see
"Printing with the Fiery Downloader" on page 4-3.
