2-1 Setting print options

Windows
Computers
This chapter describes how to print to the RIP Station from a Windows computer
using the Adobe PostScript Printer Driver (provided with the RIP Station user
software). You can print files from within your Windows application to the
RIP Station connected on your network. You can also print to the parallel port on the
RIP Station from a laptop computer, a desktop computer, or a Novell server.
If you prepare files to print at a remote location, such as a service bureau, set up your
Windows printer to print to the File port. You can still specify the RIP Station print
settings when you create your file. This ensures that when the file is finally printed, you
get the same quality output as if you had printed the files yourself. You can also print to
the File port to create a file to be downloaded with Fiery Downloader.

servers connected to the RIP Station, see the Administrator Guide. For information on
how to connect to the RIP Station over the network, install printer drivers, and install
the Fiery utilities, see the Setup Guide. For more information on setting up and using

Once you have installed the printer driver and set it to the proper port as described in
the Setup Guide, you can print directly from Windows applications. Choose the Print
command from within your application.
Setting print options
Once you have installed the appropriate PostScript Printer Driver and RIP Station
PPD (PostScript printer description file), you can select the printer settings you prefer.
You can also change some of these settings from within an application when you print
a job to the RIP Station.
