4-1 Using the Fiery Downloader

Chapter 4:
Downloading
Files and Fonts
The Fiery Downloader allows you to print PostScript and EPS (Encapsulated
PostScript) files directly to the RIP Station without using the application they were
created in. Fiery Downloader also enables you to manage printer fonts on the
RIP Station.
With Windows computers, you cannot use the Fiery Downloader with the parallel
port. Also, the Fiery Downloader is not supported for Windows 3.1x.
The Fiery Downloader for Mac OS and Windows computers are fundamentally

illustrated are the Windows 95/Windows NT version. You'll see the Mac OS version
only when it is substantially different from the Windows version.
Using the Fiery Downloader
You can use the Fiery Downloader to:
• Print PostScript files and EPS files.
• Check the status of files downloaded to the RIP Station.
• Manage the PostScript printer fonts stored on the RIP Station hard disk
(this feature requires using the Direct connection).
You can also use standard LaserWriter downloaders, such as the Adobe Font

Downloader, with the RIP Station. The Fiery Downloader was designed specifically for
