2.6 Product structure
Operating mode "PDM Demo"
The "PDM Demo" version is an operating mode especially for the product SIMATIC PDM. The
"PDM Demo" operating mode is activated automatically if necessary licenses are not
recognized or functions/options that are subject to licensing are present in a project.

Reaction
After starting SIMATIC PDM, you receive a message stating that demo mode is activated. In
addition, the status line displays the information "Demo".
Note
License conditions violated
If the license conditions are violated, the following applies:
● The processing of the project with other editors is unrestricted.
● Objects that are not affected by the infringement of the license conditions can be created.
● The communication functions are locked.
● Online dialog boxes of field devices can only be opened "offline".

Options

Program Add-ons for SIMATIC PDM
SIMATIC PDM Single Point can only be used for a single device. SIMATIC PDM Single Point
cannot be extended with other functional or TAG options.
For SIMATIC PDM, the following options can be purchased:
● SIMATIC PDM Integration in STEP 7 (PCS 7)
Note
The combination of SIMATIC PDM and the option "Integration in STEP 7" is referred SIMATIC
PDM integrated in the remainder of this documentation.

– Options subject to licensing (for example SIMATIC PDM Extended)
It allows field devices and their associated networks to be configured using the STEP 7
hardware configurator (HW Config).
