The toner cartridge must be replaced when the toner is running low, the photoconductor unit is
approaching the end of its lifetime, or the waste toner bottle is nearly full.
When the printer detects one of these conditions, it will display the following message on the control
panel.
Prepare Replacement
The following message appears when approximately 200 pages have been printed after the "Prepare
Replacement" message first appeared:
Replace print cartrdg soon.
You can continue printing after the "Replace print cartrdg soon." message appears, but printing quality
cannot be guaranteed and will gradually deteriorate.
If faint or heavy spots or smears appear on prints, replace the toner cartridge with a new one. When
the following message appears on the control panel, printing will no longer be possible.
Replace print cartridge.
Print Cartridge replacement
is required.
• Do not put the toner cartridge on an unstable or tilted surface.
• Be sure to remove the tape completely before installing the new toner cartridge, otherwise the printer
might be damaged.
• Keep the toner cartridge horizontal when pulling it out of the machine. Pulling it out an angle can
damage the machine.
• Be careful not to get toner dust on your hands or clothes.
