TROUBL ESHOOTING
If the fuel pump fails to operate.

• Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s):
1. Rider seat
2.
Air scoop
3.
Fuel tank cover
4. Fuel tank
1. Check the fuses.
(Main, ignition and fuel injection
system)
Refer to "CHECKING THE FUS ES"
on page 8-93.

2. Check the battery.
Refer to "CHECKING AND
CHARGING THE BATTERY" on
page 8-94.

Check the main switch.
Refer to "CHECKING THE
SWITCHES" on page 8-89.

Check the start/engine stop switch .
Refer to "CHECKING THE
SWITCHES" on page 8-89.

5. Check the relay unit (fuel pump re-
lay).
Refer to "CHECKING THE RE-
LAYS" on page 8-97.

Check the fuel pump.
Refer to "CHECKING THE FUEL
PUMP OPERATION" on page 7-3.

7. Check the entire fuel pump sys-
tem's wiring.
Refer to "CIRCUIT DIAG RAM" on
page 8-81.

Replace the ECU.
Refer to "REPLACING THE ECU (en-
gine control unit)" on page 8-93.

Replace the fuse(s).
• Clean the battery terminals.
• Recharge or replace the battery.
Replace the main switch.
Replace the right handlebar switch.
Replace the relay unit.
Replace the fuel pump.
Properly connect or repair the fuel pump
system's w iring.
