Initial MSM765zl Configuration

Determine Switch Index of the MSM765zl

The starting point for this procedure is the switch CLI prompt that looks like
this:
ProCurve Switch 5406zl#
Before you can launch the MSM765zl CLI you must first determine the switch-
assigned index of the MSM765zl. Each product type that is based on the
Services zl Module (J9154A) like the MSM765zl, gets an index of at least 2
assigned to it by the switch at installation time.
For example, If two MSM765zl modules are installed in a switch with no other
Services zl Module-based products already installed, both MSM765zl blades
will be assigned an index of 2 by the switch. Later, when a Services zl Module-
based blade with a different product is installed in the same switch, it will be
assigned an index of 3. Installation sequence per product type determines the
index value.
1.
To determine the index of your MSM765zl, enter the following at the
switch CLI prompt (config should be skipped if you are already in the
switch CLI config context):
config
services
The Services zl Module products and their assigned indexes are listed like
this:
In this example, there is only one type of Services zl Module installed, the
MSM765zl. The modules are installed in slots A, B, and C. All three
MSM765zl modules have been assigned an index of 2. Take note of the
index value.
Index 1 is reserved for the Service OS CLI for all Services zl Module-based
products.
2.
Exit the switch CLI config context by typing Control-z. The switch CLI
prompt changes so that it now looks like this:
ProCurve Switch 5406zl#
