Warning
Fiber-optic pluggable transceivers use Class 1 lasers. Do not use optical instruments to view
the laser output. The use of optical instruments to view laser output increases eye hazard.
When viewing the output optical port, power must be removed from the network adapter.

Caution
Carefully follow the instructions in this manual to avoid damaging the pluggable transceivers
and SSA chassis.
The pluggable transceivers and SSA chassis are sensitive to static discharges. Use an
antistatic wrist strap and observe all static precautions during this procedure. Failure to do so
could result in damage to the SFP, the SFP+, and the SSA switch. Always leave the SFP or SFP
+ in the antistatic bag or an equivalent antistatic container when not installed.

Preparing to Install a Pluggable Transceiver
Before installing a pluggable transceiver in your SSA switch, follow these steps:
1 Put on the antistatic wrist strap, shipped with the switch, and attach it to the ground receptacle on
the switch I/O port side of the SSA switch.
