POWER STEERING
On models equipped with power steering check
steering gear
lubricant
in
the following
manner.
Check fluid
in
power steering pump reservoir
-
while hot and wheels
in
full
left
turn
position-
make additions using G .M. Power Steering Fluid
or if not available
use
"DEXRON"@
Automatic
Transmission Fluid required to bring
level to
full
mark on cap dipstick.
Power steering provides
ease
in handling, park-
ing,
and getting
into
or out of
tight places. Power
assist is provided by a hydraulic pump driven by
the
engine. When the engine
is not
running or
if the
power
steering pump
drive
belt
breaks,
there is
no
power assist and much greater
steer-
ing effort
is
required.
