Four Wheel Drive Driving Cautions
If equipped, with hub locks, make certain that
the hub hand control is turned completely to the
free or lock position. Operation in a partially en-
gaged position could cause serious damage to the
hub lock.
• Do not use All Wheel Drive, either .(4-
Hi) or (4-Lo) on dry hard surfaced
roads.
• Use All Wheel Drive (4-Lo) for all off-
the-road operations only when All
Wheel Drive (4-Hi) does not supply
enough power to keep truck moving.
• Clutching
is
not required except be-
tween Neutral (N) -and All Wheel
Drive (4-Lo), at which time the clutch
should be used to assist gear alignment.
• While using power-take-off, do not op-
erate vehicle in any transmission gear
range higher than second gear.

To Operate Power Take-Off
1. Place transfer case control lever in Neutral.
2. Move Power Take-off lever to "Engaged"
position;
3. If vehicle is to move, shift the transfer case
into desired range. If the truck is to remain
stationary, leave the
transfer
case in Neutral.
4. Shift transmission into 1st or 2nd gear.
5. Accelerate engine as required.

TOWING (All Except Four Wheel Drive Trucks)
Normally your truck may be towed with .all
four wheels on the
ground
for distances up to 50
miles at speeds of less than 35 mph. However, the
drive wheels must be
raised
off the
ground
or the
drive shaft disconnected when the transmission
is not operating properly or when a speed of 35
mph or distance of 50 miles will be exceeded.
