LIGHT SWITCH
The three position
lighting switch controls
the instrument lamps,
headlamps, marker
lamps if
equipped,
park-
ing lamps, tail lamps
and interior lamp.
Instrument light
in~
tensity can be varied
by turning knob clockwise or counterclockwise.
Full counterclockwise position turns on interior
light.
GOOD DRIVING PRACTICE: A good driver
turns on his headlamps at early dusk, and during
bad weather to help other drivers see his vehicle
from a distance, even though he himseHmay still
be able to see the roadway adequately.
CAUTION: It is the owner's responsibility to
check all lamps, signaling systems and warn-
ing lights frequently
.
t o be sure they are work-
ing properly. Headlamp aim should be checked
periodically.
It
is important that any malfunc-
tions be corrected promptly for your safety,
and for the safety of others.
HEADLIGHT BEAM INDICATOR LIGHT
AND SWITCH
The foot operated dimmer switch located on the
floor is used to change the headlamp beam from
• 20 •
high to low or low to high. Each time the switch
is depressed, the light beam changes. A headlamp
beam indicator, on the face of the speedometer,
lights up when the headlamps are on high
beam.
GOOD DRIVING PRACTICE: Always use the
"low
beam" when approaching or following other
vehicles.
The headlamp circuit is protected by a circuit
breaker in the light switch. An overload on the
breaker will cause the lamps to "flicker" on and
off. If this condition develops, have your head-
lamp wiring checked immediately.
ACCELERATOR PEDAL
The accelerator pedal is used to open and close
the carburetor throttle valve to vary engine
power and thus regulate engine and vehicle
speed.
CHOKE
The carburetor hand choke control knob is
used to close the carburetor choke valve. This
restricts the air intake and produces a richer fuel
mixture for starting, while at the same time open-
ing the throttle by means of a fast idle link on the
carburetor.
10 Series Trucks
On L-6 engines, use of the choke is not usually
necessary in temperatures above 60-65
degrees.
