TRANSMISSIONS AND AXLES
GOOD DRIVING
PRACTICE:
Before descending a steep or long grade, down a mountain or hillside, reduce speed and shift into a lower gear.
Use the brakes sparingly to prevent them from overheating and thus reducing brake effectiveness.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS
Powerglide Shift Positions
The option.iHPowergHde, Turbo Hydra-Matic
400 and TurboHydra-Matic 350 transmissions are
completely automatic

units replacing the stan-
dard transmission. Control is obtained through
the selector lever located on the right side of
the steering column.
CAUTION: When parking or leaving the vehicle
unattended, even for a few minutes, remove
the ignition key, place the selector lever in
"Park" position and fully apply the parking
brake.
