5-7 CHASSIS
BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT
• Remove the plug
CD-
• Remove the brake pads by removing the mounting pin

CAUTION
I
*
Do not operate the brake lever while dismounting the
pads_
*
Replace the brake pad as a set, otherwise braking
performance will be adversely affected_
• Install the new pads.
AWARNING
Make sure that the pads are properly engaged with the
guide plates as shown in photo.
• Tighten the pad mounting pin
@
and plug
CD
to the speci-
fied torque.

Pad mounting pin: 18 N·m (1 _8 kg-m, 13.0 Ib-ft)
Plug: 2.5 N·m (0.25 kg-m, 1.8 Ib-ft)
NOTE:
After replacing the brake pads, pump with the brake lever
few times to operate the brake correctly and then check the
brake fluid level.
BRAKE FLUID REPLACEMENT
• Place the motorcycle on a level surface and keep the han-
dlebars straight.
• Remove the master cylinder reservoir cap and diaphragm.
• Suck up the old brake fluid as much as possible.
• Fill the reservoir with fresh brake fluid.

Specification and classification: DOT 4
• Connect a clear hose

to the air bleeder valve
@,
and
insert the free end of hose into a receptacle.
• Loosen the bleeder valve and pump the brake lever until
no more old brake fluid flows out of the bleeder valve.
• Close the air bleeder valve, and disconnect a clear hose.
Fill the reservoir with fresh brake fluid to the upper end
of the inspection window.

Bleed air in the brake fluid circuit. (Refer to page 2-11.)
