SmartNode 4830 Getting Started Guide
The SmartNode 4830 Series Analog VoIP Integrated Access Devices comes equipped with two 10/100Base-T
Ethernet ports and plus an integrated ADSL, G.SHDSL, T1/E1, V.35 or X.21 serial-WAN port to provide
voice-over-IP (VoIP) and Internet telephony integrated with routed serial-WAN access. The SN4830 IAD
series supports Frame-Relay and PPP networking with VPN and firewall functions, and provides extensive
Quality of Service (QoS) features for best- possible voice quality over any broadband IP network.
The SmartNode VoIP IAD performs the following major functions:
Voice over IP and local switching via a combination of 2 to 8 analog phone ports (FXS) and 2 to 4 analog
line ports (FXO).
Standards-compliant conversion between analog voice and digital VoIP in accordance with SIP and H.323
protocols.
Internet access and IP Routing with IP Quality of Service (QoS) support for mixed voice and data traffic.
Routed LAN-to-WAN connectivity between two 10/100 Ethernet LAN ports and a ADSL, G.SHDSL,
serial T1/E1, V.35, or X.21 WAN interface.
