4A-15 Brake Control System and Diagnosis:

Rear Brake Pedal Removal and Installation

Removal
1) Remove the right footrest mud guard. Refer to
"Exterior Parts Removal and Installation in Section
9D (Page 9D-4)".
2) Remove the right footrest. Refer to "Footrest
Removal and Installation in Section 9E (Page 9E-2)".
3) Remove the cotter pin (1), washer (2) and pin (3).

4) Remove the rear brake light switch spring (4) and
brake pedal spring (5).

5) Remove the rear brake pedal pivot nut (6), washer
(7) and bolt (8).

6) Remove the rear brake pedal (9) and O-rings (10).

Installation
Install the rear brake pedal in the reverse order of
removal. Pay attention to the following points:
CAUTION
!
The removed cotter pin and O-rings must be
replaced with new ones.
• Apply grease to the O-rings and rear brake pedal
pivot.
: Grease 99000–25160 (Water resistance
grease or equivalent)
• Install the brake pedal spring and rear brake light
switch spring properly. Refer to "Rear Brake Pedal
Construction (Page 4A-14)".
• After installing the rear brake pedal, check the rear
brake height. Refer to "Brake System Inspection in
Section 0B (Page 0B-17)".
