SNMP Configuration

8.6.1

Channel Tab

To set SNMP configurations use the following instructions:
1. Click the Channel Tab.
2. Use the drop-down menus to set the baud rate and word format for the SNMP Channel. The configuration
fields are pre-populated with the default settings of SNMP. Note that while using SNMP UDP/IP is the only
available Port Type.
3. Set the Get, Set, and Trap fields to match those of your SNMP manager. These case-sensitive Get, Set, and
Trap community names create a method of security for responding to SNMP requests. The SNMP manager
will only respond to those SNMP requests that possess the community name defined here. Refer to your
SNMP manager for any SNMP Community names being used.
4. Set the Primary and Secondary Trap Destinations. Set the Trap Address and Trap Port to designate where
you would like traps to be sent. Set the Trap Address to 255.255.255.255 if an alarm trap is not required.
Note: For optimal performance, make sure the SNMP poll timeout value is set to 500 msec or greater in your
SNMP master.
