TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM
The transceiver does
not turn ON.
No sound comes from
the speaker.
Sensitivity is low.
Transmitting is impos-
sible, or high power
cannot be selected.
Scan does not start.
No beep sounds.
Receive signal cannot
be understood.
Distress call cannot be
transmitted.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Bad connection to the power supply.
• Squelch level is too high.
• Volume level is too low.
• Speaker has been exposed to water.
• Internal speaker is turned OFF.
• The attenuator is activated.
• Some channels are programmed for only
low power or receive by regulation.
• The output power is set to low.
• TAG channel is not programmed.
• Beep tones are turned OFF.
• The squelch is open.
• Optional voice scrambler is turned OFF.
• Scramble code is not set correctly.
• MMSI (DSC self ID) code is not pro-
grammed.
SOLUTION
• Check the connection between the battery-
and the transceiver.
• Set [SQL] to the threshold point.
• Adjust [VOL] to a suitable level.
• Clear water from the speaker.
• Turn the internal speaker ON in the Set
mode.
• Push [6•
] after pushing [O] to turn
LO/DX
the function OFF.
• Change channels.
• Push [H/L] to select high power.
• Set the desired channels as TAG channels.
• Turn the beep tone ON in the Set mode.
• Set [SQL] to the threshold point.
• Turn the optional voice scrambler ON.
• Reset the scramble code.
• Program the MMSI (DSC self ID) code.
