When you use rechargeable batteries, note the following:
• The number of tests that can be performed per battery charge is much smaller than with regular
batteries.
• When the prompt to change the batteries is displayed for the first time, considerably fewer than
50 tests can be performed; with old and used up batteries, it is possible that no more tests can be
performed.
Results and settings remain saved in the meter when you change the batteries or if you store the meter
without batteries.
The meter has an built-in backup battery. This provides the power to maintain the clock function when
there are no batteries inserted. The backup battery has a life expectancy of about 2 years. It cannot be
replaced with a new battery.
If the backup battery is empty, the meter loses the set time and date and dashes appear on the screen
instead of the time and date. In this case, set the time and date again.

• Visually impaired people must be assisted by a sighted person when changing the batteries.
• Never throw batteries into a fire. They may explode.

• Only remove the batteries when the meter is turned off.
• Remove the batteries if you will not be using the meter for a longer period of time.
Dispose of used batteries in an environmentally-friendly way at an appropriate collection
depot.
